Team Uniforms in DFW: A Buyer's Guide for Coaches, Managers, and Captains
Share
Whether you coach a youth league, manage a corporate softball team, run a CrossFit competition team, or captain a beer-league hockey squad, team uniforms have the same playbook: lock the look, get sizes right, plan for names and numbers, and build a reorder path. This guide covers all of it for DFW teams.
What counts as a "team uniform" order
Most team orders end up touching three buckets:
- Game-day apparel — jerseys, shorts, socks
- Practice and warmups — performance tees, joggers, hoodies, quarter-zips
- Coach, staff, and fan gear — polos, caps, parent shirts, fan tees
The smartest team programs treat all three as a single brand system: same colors, same logo placement, same vibe. That is what makes a sideline look like a team instead of a parking lot.
Pick the right blank for each piece
Performance tees and jerseys
Sport-Tek, Augusta, Holloway, and similar performance brands give you moisture-wicking polyester with athletic fit. For full-color logos and player names, DTF is the go-to.
Cotton practice tees and fan shirts
Gildan 5000, Port & Co. PC54, and Bella+Canvas 3001 cover the cotton side. Screen printing wins at fan-shirt volume.
Coach gear and staff polos
Embroidered Port Authority or Sport-Tek performance polos make coaches and staff look the part. See our embroidery guide.
Hoodies and warmups
Independent Trading Co., Champion, and Port & Co. fleece are the most-ordered blanks. Screen printing for designs, embroidery for crests and team name banners.
Names and numbers
This is the part most coaches underestimate. You have three viable options:
- DTF name and number transfers — vivid color, full flexibility, easy reorders. Best on poly and performance fabrics.
- Vinyl heat-applied numbers — traditional sports look. Limited color options.
- Embroidered names — premium look on coach polos, less common on player jerseys.
Send us a roster file (CSV or simple list) with names, numbers, and sizes. We will keep it on file for reorders.
Sizing without disasters
Two rules: order a sample size run first if your team has not bought this brand before, and add a couple of extras at every size. Performance brands fit notably smaller than cotton; juniors and youth sizes are not consistent across brands. Tell us the league, age, or context and we will flag fit issues up front.
Decoration locations
Typical placement plan for a jersey:
- Front chest: team name or sponsor logo
- Back upper: player name
- Back center: large player number
- Sleeve or shoulder: league patch, sponsor mark, or year
For coach polos and parent shirts, left-chest logo is the standard. For fan tees, full-front graphic works best.
Reorder programs
Mid-season replacements happen. Players move, sizes change, gear gets lost. We keep artwork, sizing notes, and rosters on file so a midseason reorder is a one-email job. We can also drop-ship to multiple addresses if your team is spread across the Metroplex.
Team uniforms by program type
- School sports, PTA, and booster programs
- CrossFit boxes, run clubs, and fitness teams
- Tournament and event teams
- Church leagues and recreation teams
